Second clip is from Seth Godin’s book Tribes. Seth tells a story of a process a couple uses to have dramatic change where they are.

Cube38 – Life Change

Life changes come in two verities:

  • slow & steady
  • sudden

This cube deals with the second time, looking at part of an episode of the tv show In Plain Sight [season 1, episode 7 – Iris Doesn’t Live Here Anymore].

In Plain Sight is about US Marshals Mary Shannon & Marshall Mann supporting people in the Witness Protection Program. Every person in the Witness Protection Program had their lives suddenly and dramatically changed in a moment.

In this Cube, the family first learns just how different their life will be from here on out; some handle the change better than others.

Cube37 – Motivation : Why you are having issues

Long ago the primary motivations with humans was survival. If you could help someone survive, you could motivate them to do just about anything.

More recent the method of motivating people, mostly employees, was carrots & sticks.

Now, Daniel Pink explains in his book Drive, to motivate or influence the actions of more and more people, you have to find something else. This is not universal for everyone, at this point, but the more a task requires creativity, the less extra money will cause better results.

In working on this episode, the previous two work well with it:
